Waterfront building lots

Welcome to Diamond Cove.

Casco Bay Lines serves Diamond Cove and Great Diamond Island year round, for both passengers and freight.

The Parade Ground flag that once flew over Fort McKinley still flies over Diamond Cove. It can be seen from the mainland and the other islands in Casco Bay.

Lobster bakes, beach picnics and porch parties are common summer events at Diamond Cove. (The General Store now has a lobster tank, as well as wine, beer, fresh produce and ice cream for a great last minute party.)

Not all homes at Diamond Cove have private waterfront access, but all D.C. owners have an equal share in 5 common beaches and several other shoreline recreation areas..   Pull up a chair at one of the common areas along the west shore,  and watch sailboat races every Thursday evening on Casco Bay.

In the historic area of Diamond Cove, buildings that had military application when  Fort McKinley was in active use have been restored and converted to residential use. This beautiful home was the former guardhouse, or "jail" as it is now known.

A group of friends meet on a Sunday afternoon to go clamming at Diamond Cove Beach.

In winter the ice pond is perfect for skating but on clear fall days, it becomes a reflecting pool.

Water taxis, available year round,  are a great way to supplement the ferry schedule.

A group of  residents volunteered to plant trees in an "open space recreation" area on West Shore Drive.

Year round residents of Diamond Cove believe the island is as beautiful in winter as in summer.

All dogs LOVE to ride on golf carts.

Kids of all ages enjoy the playground.

The little red schoolhouse was recently renovated and made into a beautiful home.

Diamond Cove kids sing "Inch By Inch" at an Easter service at the outdoor chapel. Each year, after the service, they are rewarded with an egg hunt and then young and old alike retire to Admin for family brunch.

This beautiful antique apple tree hangs over the water on a rocky ledge.

A great benefit of living at Diamond Cove  is the sense of security, particularly for families with small children. On Halloween, parents feel quite comfortable allowing kids to trick-or-treat anywhere on the island. (This after-tricking party was for adults, too, who were also in costume.)

Hitching a ride on a passing golf cart.

Groundskeeper Jim stops lawn mowing on the Parade Ground to say hello to a young friend.

Tom and Karen volunteered their talents to chef at a gala New Years Eve party.

If silly hats are a measure of a successful party, this one was a winner!

When spring comes to Diamond Cove, flowers bloom everywhere.

Sea kayaking has become so popular with residents that racks for safe storage have been built at Pleasant Cove. Volunteers plan to add racks at other common waterfront launch sites.

Some of Diamond Cove's younger residents tested the new cotton candy machine, which has been employed  along with the new popcorn maker to provide refreshments for the summer Saturday night outdoor movies on the Parade Ground.

Stately white columns are an important feature of the architectural style in the Parade Ground area. The building on the right was the PX when Fort McKinley was an active military installation; it now is known as "Admin" and is one of several buildings owned in common by the home owners of Diamond Cove.

This year, the 4th of July was a beautiful day from beginning to end.

The historic outdoor chapel, located in an old growth forest, may be reserved by Diamond Cove owners for private services such as weddings and baptisms.

Six year old resident Gage says, "This is the life".
