What happens in a medical emergency? 

A 911 call immediately dispatches the fireboat from the Portland pier. We have an ambulance at Diamond Cove; the driver is notified by the Portland emergency dispatcher. Unofficially, we have many trained medical people (doctors and nurses), living at Diamond Cove, who respond immediately to an emergency when they are on the island. Our Security people, the ambulance drivers, call any medical people they know to be in residence at the time of the emergency.
